Authorities yesterday raided a well-known massage parlour called "Victoria Secret Massage" in Bangkok's Rama 9 area and found 80 women believed to have been forced into prostitution.
The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) as well as Army and police, military and local officers arrested Boonsap Amornratanasiri, 55, aka "Pa Kob", for alleged human trafficking. The suspect worked as a supervisor of the women.
Pol Col Songsak Raksaksakul, DSI deputy chief, said most of the women had no ID card and are believed to be migrants trafficked in from neighbouring countries.including Thai, Myanmar and Laos, and many of them carried no identity card.
The case stemmed from a previous complaint, where a Myanmar girl under 18 had been lured into prosti-tution at the age of 12.
It was alleged that the gang had recruited underage virgin girls from outside of Thailand to provide sex services. The girls were then sent to perform sex work at the Bangkok massage parlour, a form of human trafficking.
The investigation identified seven suspects who are now covered by court-ordered arrest warrants, including Kob.
